You’re engaged! You’re checking off your wedding planning to do list. Budget is set, venue is booked, you might have even gone dress shopping already. Now you’re all set for the next to do: booking your photographer. When I was planning my wedding I will admit, all I was focused on was price when it came to checking vendors out. There couldn’t be that much of a difference in photographers right? Oh me, silly bride to be, I was wrong. While I knew the style of photography I wanted (style relates to how they shoot: ie portait, journalistic, adventure etc) I had just assumed throwing a filter on an image (thanks social media for the brainwash) could happen after the fact. AGAIN I was wrong. Aesthetic in photography plays a big part in the outcome of your wedding day images.
Much like beauty, aesthetic can be interpreted different ways. In regards to your wedding photographer the aesthetic falls under how they create using visuals. From tone to color to contrast, each photographers aesthetic will result in a different emotion or visual. If all this goes over your head like me, don’t worry we got you covered.
At our recent event SBSN Night Out at The Lodge at Malibou Lake, we showcased two wedding installations to bring you inspiration. Couples who attended were able to peep at a Terra Cotta dream designed, styled and planned by True Splendor Events, and a Modern Bridgerton romance designed, styled, and planned by Three Sisters Event Planning with the assistance of 329events. While being able to see the weddings in person, visualizing it in photos for each attendee I’m sure varied. Here we have examples of two different photographers aesthetics in the weddings. Both absolutely breathtaking, yet totally different in terms of color composition, lighting, and all around aesthetic.
Wedding Nature photography and Kami Sparks Photo were our two photographers who showcased their talent. Both style and aesthetic are different. Bright and bold, using light to bring romantic images to life. Dark and moody to create emotion and energy with the images. Both aesthetics are beautiful, both deliver a different feeling.
Our first wedding inspiration is Terra Cotta Dream.

Next time you’re on the search for your photographer keep in mind that how you want your wedding photos to look should align with how your photographer (or any vendor you connect with) creates.
There you have it, a little bit of knowledge and a lotta bit of wedding inspiration.
